OAME 2017 Presentation

Spiraling the Math Curriculum

This Google Slides presentation was posted following OAME in 2017. The title was ‘Spiralling the Math Curriculum’ and while this resource may not provide much in the way of actual lesson plans or unit overviews, it does provide a great deal of information as to why and how spiraling could work in your classroom. For this reason, I have chosen to include it in my list of available resources.

PROS:

Provides a real-life look at what spiraling could look like in a classroom. This presentation identifies what works, what didn’t work, and what the presenters would like to improve upon moving forward. There are a number of images included that show student work which is invaluable when trying to imagine how to make a change of this magnitude in your classroom.

CONS:

This is not at all the fault of this site, but even though it was only presented in 2017, with the take-off of spiraling, this site has become dated. This presentation pre-dates the EduGAINS website so they were working with extremely limited resources.
